In this issue:
Of course I’m special
One size does not fit all
It’s not about ecosystem. It’s about money.
It doesn’t matter whether we’re a venture capital kingmaker or a mid level manager. It’s amazing what we manage not to see.
Of course, that was a trait we evolved to survive. If you’re looking at everything equally, you may miss the saber toothed tiger in the grass coiled to pounce. Better to ignore the bugs and the funky looking tree over there, and stay attuned to predators.
But in our current situation, we don’t always know the difference between a bug and a grizzly bear. Sometimes the thing we think is harmless - or that we think won’t harm me - is actually the biggest threat on the horizon. Or the biggest untapped opportunity – the one that might allow me to escape that tiger by running somewhere they can’t go.
This is why better and bigger innovation is so important today – and why we so often miss the best opportunities for meaningful innovation.
And why we have to be very mindful of our blind spots…like our own special-ness.
Because those tigers might hide in there, watching our obliviousness to their presence.
Not Meeee! I’m special!
