It never fails.
Every year Dave and I go to the Florida Keys for a week in February to see my in laws. They spend a month in Marathon to escape the worst of their Michigan winter. We've been making that trip to visit them for more than 20 years.
And I never pack right.
I always end up with a couple too many T shirts, a dress I never end up wearing but take In Case, and this year, a fake leather jacket instead of something that might actually breathe in the humidity.
Mascara. Who needs mascara in the subtropics?
Not that I don't know better, sort of. I can remember last year and the year before and etc. I know that I only read half of one of the three books I brought last year, that I never put on the "nice" sandals, that I needed another rash guard shirt instead of the sweater.
But looking at my closet on a dull grey 30-degree day in Cincinnati, it's impossible to imagine not needing that sweater.
That's what we're all like.
