As we said in Big Idea and Pushback, the value that the emerging era is putting on human creativity, collaboration and problem-solving points to a very different fundamental role for people in economies than the Industrial Era typically assumed. Changing the expectations for the human role in work from nimble fingers and strong backs to creators and problem-solvers means that the employer-employee role is changing dramatically.
We know this because we see it in our daily lives, but do we understand what a profound upsetting of old assumptions we are living through?
The evidence says no, because so many of our systems are ill-suited to this new reality.
