Future Here Now: The Instructions
Last month I was in San Antonio, Texas, for a conference on alternative funding for under-resourced small businesses and communities.
As is surprisingly often the case with conferences, one of my biggest learnings came from something else.
This is a mural in Dowtown San Antonio created by Justin Parr and Anthony Dean-Hattis that pretty much sums up the base skills/mindset needed in this Fusion Era transition period. This is my photo; you can find a better one here.
It reads:
Instructions for Use for Adapting to our State of Constant Change
Begin wih the premise that everything exists.
WE’RE ALL SHOWING UP IN THE MIDDLE OF EVERYONE ELSE’S STORY
Listen more than you talk.
IT’S COMPLICATED. BIG THINGS LIKE EXISTENCE OR EXISTENCES CONSTANTLY SHIFTING REDEFINITION TEND TO BE COMPLICATED AND THAT’S OK.
It’s not just the product, it’s also the process. In fact, it’s always been a process.
THE DISCOMFORT IS PART OF LEARNING.
Despite our being apart, we’re all in this together.
I think #6 is the one that hits home most to me. How about you?
