Welcome to new subscribers!
Usually, Future Here Now focuses on insights about the working and thinking skills that we will all need to move our communities, our organizations, and ourselves into an unfolding future that won’t look at lot like our past. Because that future that’s unfolding is happening fast, we have to very intentionally change how we live and work — down to some of our most core, hard-wired assumptions.
That’s not easy, but it’s necessary if we’re going to lead our organizations and communities and businesses to success. And thrive ourselves.
Today, I’m sharing a handful of updates on my company and network - think of it as other tools in the toolkit of developing those Future Ready skills.
This month, most of our content here is focused on Building a Future Ready Mind. Just like with our New Years resolutions to get more sleep or get off the phone or take a walk every day, our brains’ evolution actively works against our good intentions. You can read about that in last week’s posts. The rest of this week will focus on what a Future Ready brain can learn to do.
Psychology and neuro-stuff is not my normal lane, but I’ve found that understanding these issues sets a crucial underpinning for building better organizations, businesses and communities. As with so many things, it all starts between our ears.
Free subscribers get two to three posts per week, usually written but sometimes video or audio. For a small monthly fee, you can upgrade your experience, which gets you more materials, special access to new resources, and even an hourlong coaching session! And for the rest of January, everyone gets a 25% discount on a full subscription for yourself … and your team!
Updates:
You’ve asked me for years to create an inexpensive way to get a little help — a boost to get your or your organization over a block without breaking the bank. So my online wizard team has created THREE ways for you to get that kind of help!
If you need
You can get those services now with a click on those links and a credit card (yes, checks and POs are still good too.) I hope you’ll check these out, and share with your colleagues - especially the ones who need community and support.
This week’s LinkedIn Live will focus on a key question: What make a Future Ready brain different from what most of us have right now? We’ll get into the key elements of Future Ready thinking, and take your questions. So I hope you’ll join us! Thanks to an upgrade, you will find me on noon Eastern Thursdays at my profile on LinkedIn, YouTube and Facebook.
If you are still grappling with those beginning of the year existential questions (Who do I want to be? How do I want to move through my life? What’s my contribution?), I’d encourage you to check out my reading list at wiseeconomy.com/BooksAndGoodStuff. You’ll find all kinds of writers, old and new, personal to academic, intellectual to heart-moving. And at the bottom of the page, you’ll find something extra-special for the place-lover in your life! Trust me, you wanna look.
For the planners among you, I just confirmed that I will be doing a Learning Lab at the National Planning Conference in Denver this year. We will be exploring how to improve digital public engagement, and I’ll have a special resource to unveil as we get closer to that date! So look out for that session as you’re signing up. It’s included in the registration, but space will be limited.
Coming tomorrow: the Ground Conditions of the Future Ready Mind.
