Hi, all. I was talking about my approach to estimating the economic impact of a project, and I did two very predictable things:
I got very opinionated about why IMPLAN-type economic impact models are awful and should never be used the way we too often use them, and
I somewhat aggressively plugged Lawrence Tabak’s 2021 book Foxconned, published by University of Chicago Press.
Audio books are easier for a busy professional to take on, and Tabak says everything I would want to say 100% better than I would. So I told my colleague that I cared so much about this information that I would record myself reading selections from the chapter. The audio file here is literally me reading that.
Because I am prepping for a bunch of conferences and presentations, I don’t have time right now to edit out my goofs (comma? why did I say “comma” out loud?). But despite the fact that I’m not ready to try out for the next Pixar movie, I hope it does you some good.
